Wedding Registries
Wedding (or bridal) Registries are like a Christmas wish list for grown ups! Registering for wedding gifts is a fun event - the engaged couple is armed with scanner and all of your hearts desires are just a click away! Many large department stores offer bridal registries. Some of my favourites include Sears, The Bay and Home Outfitters. Registering at several stores gives your guests choice when it comes to selecting your perfect gift. Most registries give you the option to update and review your registry online. Stores such as Sears and The Bay offer registry completion programs, where for up to a year after your wedding date you can continue to purchase items, at a discounted price.
When creating your registry you will want to consider the number of guests invited to the events (ie. shower and wedding) to ensure there are a sufficient number of gifts and choice available. For some guidelines to help get you started visit http://weddingbellenetwork.com/wedding_registries
Don’t forget to ask for registries cards which are a great addition to your shower invitations. Wedding etiquette traditionally frowns upon including registry cards with wedding invitations. Most rely on word-of-mouth or are already aware if they have been invited to your shower. It is also more common for guests to give cash gifts at the wedding. Just be sure to update your registry after your shower to be sure there are still items for guests wishing to purchase traditional gifts for the big day.
